When working with children and families from
diverse backgrounds. I hope that every teacher will take the time to
·
Approach
the family with an open mind and treat it as a plain canvas
·
Give the
family the tools to paint their own picture of who they are, their hopes and
dreams for their child, and who their child is
·
Support
the family and the child in achieving their dreams and maintaining their
identity
My goal for the early childhood field is to develop
and promote programs that help professionals understand and deal with
diversity. The knowledge I gained from this course should be accessible to all
early childhood professionals entering the field. Given the reality of our society's growth in diversity, this knowledge must be
taught as a beginner's course to help them learn effective ways to address
diversity and achieve social justice.
As this journey comes to an end, I would
like to extended my gratitude to all my colleagues in this course who have
enriched my life with their reflections and comments. I hope that I was able to
enlighten your views about my culture just as you have enlightened mine.
You have, most definitely, enlightened our lives and taught us much. I love that you refer to painting a picture, because our pallets our full of wonderful colors. I look forward to continuing our journey together... thank you!
ReplyDeleteRola,
ReplyDeleteI think that yous suggestion to give the family the tools to paint their own picture of who they are, is a great thought, because it will be their own picture of who they are. Thank you for your inspiration and comments throughout the past weeks. I wish you luck in your continued courses. Good Luck!!
Hi Rola,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your post and totally agree with you that we should give children and families tools to paint their lives and reach their dreams. Thank you for your support during the course and I wish you all the best in your future courses.

Rola,
ReplyDeleteOnce again we've reached the end of our journey together, and I want to say thank-you. I really have enjoyed your posts, they really have made an impact on my life, both professionally and personally. And I think you have some great goals for your future, especially when it comes to educating future educators and teachers, in regards to diversity and culture. I wish you all the luck in the future, and I have no doubt that your programs on diversity will be a great success, and will definitely help future educators be more prepared, when they enter the classrooms for the first time.
