“Parents who give of themselves, who respect the individuality of their particular child, who are able to say “No” as well as “Yes” when the child needs it, are also able to let go, when the right time comes, confident that this child will find his or her own unique and characteristic way in the world”.
T. Berry Brazelton, MD“While standards serve the important functions of basic protection and education in health and safety, it is not sufficient that children survive in child care, it is essential that they thrive. It is toward this goal that accreditation standards and model standards are designed”.

ReplyDeleteThis quote is so true, it resonates with me because I have had to say this a few times to first-time/young teachers (who are willing to listen.
I love the quote by T.Berry Brazelton! It summarizes all the great attributes parents should have. They do the best they can and at the end let go when it's the right time . I believe we must teach our children that there are going to be times when things won't go their way and they might even experience great disappointments but they have to know they have in them what it takes to stand on their feet again and start over. Learn from the experience and put it behind.
ReplyDeleteRola,
ReplyDeleteI loved your quote by T. Berry Brazelton, as a parent it really hits home. Even though we know as parents it's never easy or ever the right time when we have to say goodbye. But we have to be assured if we taught our children right, raised them to be individuals, and above all taught them to respect others that they will be just fine when it's time to go out there into the big world. For me that's extremely hard to imagine that day will come for me because my children are still young. But I just remind myself that this is the crucial time for me as a parent, that it is my responsibility to instill values and strong convictions in my children now, so when the time comes I'll know I did everything possible as a parent, and they will be ready to go out there into the world, and they will be successful, confident, and respectful individuals ready for the real world.
Great quote, very inspirational for parents of all ages.
